The ship that lost its bow was the USS Pittsburgh (CA-72). If i could see the ship with the 306 on it I then could possibly tell you what shi it was. Bob Tippins, USN Retired.
World War II Weather ships

My late father was on an weather ship that was stationed near Guam at the end of World War II. He never said very much about his service time. But he did memtion something about a report of a typhoon that the Navy disreguarded that his ship reported was coming. The account he recalled was the he saw the Pennsylvania coming into port with it's bow broken off. I would like any infomation about his ship or that type of ship he serviced on. I only have one picture of him in the Navy and he was standing near a ship with the number 306 on it's bow. Any info. would be appreciated. Dave Krueger

The price of Gasoline in West Virginia on this date 3/17/08 is $3.45 per gallon. Oil is higher then I ever though it would be. Price of food is sky rocketing. Their is a war going on in Iraq and Afganistan. Everyone is fighting to be President of the United States. Well I just hope who ever gets to be the President does something about our problems, instead of just fighting with each other. We as a people I feel has to take responsiblily in our lives in what we do, such as over spending and maybe once in a while just say no to ourselves. What do you think? I get very upset over listenting to all those people who run our country, tell us everything is going to be alright, my question is when will this happen?. Francine
